"Death of an old inhabitant. Hayfield seems to be losing its inhabitants fast, and, to use a somewhat homely phrase, they will soon all be gone. This week has seen another go the way of all flesh, namely Mr Lemuel Rangeley who died on Thursday last, at the good old age of 80, and whose interment took place at the cemetery on Tuesday afternoon.
Deceased had lived in the place all his life, consequently, was well known and respected. He leaves several children, all of whom are married, and live in various parts of the country."
